The internet is extremely powerful and if you use it correctly you will not only be able to make a lot of money, but you will put yourself in a position to help many people.

The power of the internet derives from the fact that it will allow you to sell your products and services all over the world. In the USA alone there are 309 million people that can be reached through online advertising. So, whatever business you are in, you have the opportunity to use the global reach of the internet to take your business to the next level. In order to do this you have to think globally. You have to start treating your business as though you are the CEO of a major enterprise.

But before jumping into a discussion of our topic, I want to say a few words about something that is even more fundamental to the success of your online business, which is, how you treat the leads that you acquire for your business as a result of your marketing and advertising. Remember that each lead that comes into your sales funnel is not just an email address but it is a real person who took the time to give you their information and if you want to make money then you have to deliver value to these people.

Your focus must be on providing solutions to people’s problems because that is what is going to get people to connect with you and buy from you. Whatever industry you are in, your success will be determined by your ability to give people a true path to win.

How to Position Yourself in Your Industry

So how then do you use paid traffic to take your business to the next level?

The first thing to say is that it is not about your company or your product. It is about YOU. Your business will go only as far as you take it.

What does this mean?

It means you have to take responsibility for the success of your business and take the actions that will make you stand out from the crowd. That begins with developing a skill set that makes you an invaluable resource. For example, if, in addition to promoting your own business, you can teach other Entrepreneurs how to get more leads for their businesses then you will become the “Go to” person for a lot of people and in so doing put yourself in a position to make more money.

Why? Because you will be able to show the people that connect with you how to have success, which means they are not going to quit and you will continue to get paid. It’s that simple. And you can use that same skill set to build your own business to boot.

Furthermore, you will be able to help people who are not even connected to you. Most people think only about the people that are in their circle, but there are a lot of people out there that can benefit from the knowledge that you have and when you position yourself to be an invaluable resource, you will attract more people to join with you.

The Entrepreneur Mindset

The whole thing begins with having the right mindset when it comes to advertising and promoting your business. If you want to make money you must become aware of and overcome your limiting beliefs.

One of the things new Entrepreneurs have a hard time doing is investing. This is because, having been brought up as employees, we are used to trading our time for money, and now all of a sudden we find ourselves having to buy this and buy that, and having to work for two, three, four months without any returns. We start to wonder what’s going on and the fear of losing it all starts to creep in.

But you have to ask yourself, what the alternative is. Go back to trading your time for money and living your life with very little freedom and little potential to realize all your ambitions?

So one of the subconscious beliefs you have to overcome is the idea that spending money is a bad thing. You have to understand that investing in traffic is a good thing because you are investing in yourself. Not investing in your business is actually a bad thing. I do not know of any successful business that does not invest or spend money on advertising.

The aim is to put $1 into your business and get $2 out. If you can get your advertising performing this way, then you will be prepared to spend money all day because you know that you will get more back than you put in.

The question is how do you overcome those limiting beliefs? Perhaps you have tried different strategies in the past but failed to make any inroads. The answer lies in understanding the value of a lead, because it is one thing to understand that you need to advertise, but you need to have certainty that that it will pay off if you do it correctly.

How Much Do You Want to Earn?

Another limiting belief lies in the idea of how much money it is possible to make in your online business.

Now, ask anyone how much money they want to make and most people would say they would be happy making $3000 to $40000 a month because Society has us believing that it is normal to be making that sort of money and working for someone else and basically living their dream.

However, when you have a global business, there is no reason why you should not earn a six figure income or more per month. So do not be afraid to expand your limiting beliefs. Always expand your thinking because it is truly possible. Remember the internet is a vast Ocean and one of the objectives of this blog is to show you how to set yourself up to have a presence on the internet so that your products or services always show up when people are searching for them.

Simply a Numbers Game.

Now a six figure sum like $100,000 per month will seem like pie in the sky to a lot of people, so let’s keep things modest and say you want to earn $10,000 a month. What will it take to hit that number? You may be surprised to learn that there is actually a simple, scientific way to do this.

It starts with a monthly goal, which in this case is $10,000 per month

Let’s assume your online business earns you $100 commission every time you make a sale.

Then the number of sales you need to make each month to hit your monthly goal of $10,000 is:

$10,000 = 100 sales
$100

So you need to make 100 sales each month in order to reach your goal of $10,000 per month.

You can do a similar calculation for your own business to see how many sales per month you need to make to reach your monthly sales goal.

The 10 and 3 Percent Rule

Now that you know how many sales you need to make each month to hit your monthly sales goal, the question arises as to how you actually get those sales? Well, the 10 and 3 percent rule is a formula that shows us the way.

This rule states that 10 percent of the people who see your ad are going to opt in and 3 percent of the people who opt in will buy your product or service. However, this rule applies only if your marketing is targeted. If you have a shot gun approach to your marketing that just scatters your advertising all over the place, then you will be marketing to people that are not interested in your business and the 3 and 10 percent rule will not apply.

But if you target people that are searching for your specific company or type of product, then you will have value to offer these people and 10% of them will likely opt-in and 3% will buy.

What the 10 and 3 percent rule allows us to do is figure out how many leads we need to hit our monthly sales number. So if we take the number of sales we need to make and divide that by 0.03 (the 3 percent that will buy,) then we get the number of leads needed. In our example this is 100 sales needed divided by 0.03,

100 = 3,333 leads per month
0.03

That is, we need 3,333 leads every month to hit our sales number.

Now you may be wondering how in the world you are going to get 3,333 leads every month.

Actually this is a comparatively small number when you are marketing worldwide. There are millions of people searching the internet right now for products and services in your area of interest. Remember what we said earlier about there being 309 million internet users in the US alone.

What you need to do is work out the number of impressions required. This is the number of people who must see your ads each and every month for you to stand any chance of getting those 3,333 leads.

So this time we divide the number of leads needed (3,333) by the 10 percent (0.1) of people that are likely to opt-in upon seeing our ad.

3,3333 = 33,330 impressions
0.1

So you need 33,330 people to see your offer in order to get 3,333 leads and if what you have to offer resonates with them, then you will hit the 100 sales per month. It’s that simple.

So the key lies in learning how to generate traffic to get as many eyeballs as possible to see your offer. Once you know that is all you need to do, then you will understand why you must invest in traffic. You need to really master traffic so that you can focus on getting the right number of impressions to your products and services, each and every month, and then you will be able to hit numbers that far exceed the 100 sales per month of our example.
