I Strengthen My Heart
My heart is a muscle. I keep it strong and fit. I take care of my physical and emotional needs.
I exercise regularly. I train for strength and flexibility as well as conditioning my heart. I limit the time I spend sitting. I take a walk outdoors so I can move my body and enjoy nature.
I laugh and play. Having fun boosts my circulation and gives me more energy.
I manage stress. I engage in activities that relax me. I meditate and practice yoga. I listen to gentle piano music or falling rain. I slip into soft pajamas or pet my cat. I think positive thoughts.
I develop close relationships. I surround myself with family and friends who build my confidence and make me feel secure.
I eat nutritious foods and watch my weight. Staying trim reduces my risk of heart disease, high blood pressure, and other serious conditions. I take a load off my heart when I shrink my waistline. I fill my plate with fresh vegetables and fruit. I eat more fish and less bacon. I cut down on sugar and salt.
I keep my life in balance. I care for myself and build downtime into my schedule while I take care of my responsibilities at home and at the office.
Today, I remember that I count on my heart to sustain me. I give my heart what it needs to stay strong and healthy.
