I Go to Bed on Time

go-to-bed-on-timeI stick to my bedtime. Following a regular schedule gives my body and mind the rest they need so I can enjoy a satisfying and productive life.

I know that regular bedtimes are just as important for adults as for children. At each stage in my life, adequate sleep is essential. Sufficient rest enhances my health and wellbeing. I feel happier and think more clearly. It becomes easier for me to manage my weight and fight off illness.

Each evening before bed, I prepare myself for a restful sleep. I engage in relaxing activities and minimize distractions. I turn off my phone and computer. I read a book or listen to gentle music instead of watching TV.

I create a soothing environment. I take a warm bath and put on soft pyjamas. I darken my bedroom with heavy curtains. I switch on a fan or white noise machine if I need to drown out the sound of car alarms or neighbors partying.

If I am hungry, I eat a small snack. I drink water instead of alcohol or caffeine.

I put aside intrusive thoughts and concerns until the morning. I keep utility bills and business reports out of my bedroom. I devote a few moments to prayer or meditation that stills my mind and encourages pleasant dreams.

Today, I respect my need for sleep. I maintain a consistent sleep-wake schedule.

Self-Reflection Questions:

1. What is one thing I can do to enhance the quality of my sleep?

2. How can I figure out how many hours of sleep I really need?

3. What is one bedtime ritual that would help me to go to bed on time?
